Mar. 25, 2008 Sasquatch! Music Festival

Sasquatch! Music Festival is a music festival held annually at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. There is an emphasis on indie rock bands and singer-songwriters, although there are also alternative rock and hip hop acts. The festival features three separate stages (Sasquatch! Main Stage, Wookie Stage, & Yeti Stage) with the Yeti Stage dedicated exclusively to artists from the Pacific Northwest.
The lineup for the 2008 Sasquatch! Music Festival was announced on 25 February 2008. Headliners for the event include R.E.M., The Cure, and The Flaming Lips. The event is scheduled to take place on Memorial Day weekend, 24-26 May 2008.

The Gorge Amphitheatre is a 20,000 seat concert venue located above the Columbia River gorge in George, Washington. Administered by the House of Blues, it is considered one of the premier and most scenic concert locations in North America and the world.

The Gorge is known for its spectacular views, lawn-terrace seating, and nearly year-round clear weather. It has been played by the likes of Van Halen, Metallica, Sting, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith, Radiohead, Dave Matthews Band, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Phish, KISS, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Velvet Revolver, and many more.

The 2008 Sasquatch! Music Festival is certified carbon neutral by Sustainable Energy Partners, and made possible by the support of Esurance.

The three day festival will be 100% wind powered. Additionally, Carbon Harmony will offset 125% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced during the festival at The Gorge Amphitheatre located in George, Washington. By offsetting more GHG emissions than the festival produces, the result is a net reduction in the amount of GHG in the atmosphere which provides a positive effect on our climate.

Carbon Harmony will be achieved by funding projects that reduce GHG on dairy farms in the Pacific Northwest. The methane collection and combustion projects convert methane gas from animal waste into clean electricity. This internationally recognized process offers two benefits, GHG reduction and renewable energy generation.
