Apr. 19, 2008 10,000 Lakes Festival

The 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) is an annual four-day music festival in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, at the Soo Pass Ranch. The festival has been held since 2003. The name refers to Minnesota's nickname, "The Land of 10,000 Lakes." The lineups generally include jam and bluegrass bands.

The festival is held on over 600 acres of unspoiled lakeside and showcases over 60 artists and bands on four stages:

Main Stage - Headliners perform here. This stage accommodates the most room for listeners.

Field Stage - It is located in front of a field, allowing room for acts that attract large crowds.

Barn Stage - This stage is located at the base of a hill and features a translucent canopy for shade.

Saloon Stage - Acts that attract the smallest crowds are booked in a saloon, which stays open later than all other stages.

Campgrounds can be reserved and running water provides permanent restrooms and showers.

The 6th annual 10KLF will take place Wednesday, July 23rd through Saturday, July 26th, 2008 at the scenic Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

George Clinton (see photo) will be one of the artists for 2008. He is an American musician and the principal architect of P-Funk. He was the mastermind of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic during the 1970s and early 1980s, and was a solo funk artist as of 1981. He has been called one of the most important innovators of funk music, next to James Brown and Sly Stone.

"You're Thinking Right", the theme song for The Tracey Ullman Show, was written by Clinton. He appeared on the intro to Snoop Dogg's Tha Blue Carpet Treatment album, released in 2007. He also appeared in the film PCU (Jeremy Piven, David Spade) and played a concert for the big party.
