June 23, 2008 Bay Chamber Concerts Launches Summer Music Festival


 St. Lawrence String Quartet Bay Chamber Concerts will launch the 48th Summer Music Festival on July 2, 2008 in the beautiful Rockland, Maine. It will hold a concert performed by world-renowned musicians every Wednesday and Thursday throughout July and August.

July 3 Rockport Opera House Opera House Opening Night Clarinetist Jim Campbell is joined by cellist Marc Johnson and pianist Paul Stewart to perform works by Beethoven, Brahms and Weber.

The St. Lawrence Quartet (see photo) is a Canadian string quartet, and one of Canada's premiere chamber ensembles. It was founded in 1989 and has served residencies at the Juilliard School, Yale University, the University of Toronto, the University of Hartford, and Stanford University. In 1992 they won first prize in the Fourth Banff International String Quartet Competition and Young Concert Artist Auditions. They have also won a Juno Award.
