June 7, 2008 Music under the Stars World Music Festival


 Visitor center at Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso  Texas Music under the Stars World Music Festival will celebrate its 25th Silver Season in 2008 (June 15-August 17) at Chamizal National Memorial (see photo: Visitor center), El Paso, Texas. It has become one of El Paso's premier family events and one of the largest free music festivals in Texas. The festival attracts more than 80,000 people a year.
Boasting performances by both internationally acclaimed and local artists, Music under the Stars' 2008 season will feature evenings of Rock Classics, Swing, Jazz, Flamenco, German Folk, and Latin Reggae.

Certain visiting artists will give free master classes, fostering El Paso's budding musicians. The 2008 season will feature a "4th of July Spectacular" with a patriotic concert by the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and a closing fireworks display.

The Harlem Gospel Choir, founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, is an American gospel choir based in Harlem, New York. It is one of the United States' most prominent gospel choirs.
The group comprises 65 members, ranging in age from 17 to 70. It has toured the world, logging two million travel miles. They have appeared on national television programs such as Good Morning America and The Colbert Report. They have performed for Pope John Paul II and Paul McCartney, and have performed with The Chieftains, Diana Ross, Whoopi Goldberg, Harry Belafonte, Danny Glover, the Dixie Hummingbirds, Jimmy Cliff, Lyle Lovett, Lisa Marie Presley, Bono and U2, André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra, and Jessica Simpson.
